Step 1. Click on the Start menu and move
the mouse over top of Setting to open the sub-menu and then
click on Control Panel.

Step 2. In the Control
Panel, locate and double-click on Dial-Up Networking.

Step 3. Double-click on Make New Connection.

Step 4. Enter a name for the name of the
computer you are dialing, (this name dosent have to be specific,
it is only for your use) then click on Next.

Step 5. Enter the area code and phone
number, then click Next.

Step 6. Click Finish.

Step 7. In the Dial-Up Networking window,
you should be able to find an icon with the name that you
gave for your connection right-click on it and choose Properties
from the submenu that appears.

Step 8. Click on the Networking tab at
the top of the properties screen.
Make sure that only "TCP/IP" and "Enable Software
Compression" have check marks in their respective boxes.
If any other items are checked, click on the check mark to
remove it. Click Ok to return to the Dial-Up Networking.
(these are standard to check, your ISP
may have you check other boxes instead or in addition, check
with your service provider)

Step 9. Right-click on your connection
icon and choose “Create Shortcut”. A dialog box will appear
that says,

Step 10. “Windows can not create a shortcut
here. Do you want Windows to place the shortcut on the desktop
instead?” Click Yes. Close Dial-Up Networking.
